The Punica granatum "Wonderful" plant, better known as Pomegranate, is a fruit plant native to western Asia. It produces a spectacular flowering from June to September, followed by large-sized fruits with a purplish-red skin (Pomegranates). The grains have a sweet and sour taste and are ruby pink in colour. The grains, rich in vitamins C and phenols, have antioxidant, anticoagulant, astringent, moisturizing, antimicrobial, vermifuge and vasoprotective properties. Fruit ripening occurs in October. It prefers a sunny position. The fruits are used in the preparation of juices, jams, sorbets, the grains are perfect for giving a touch of color to salads, to accompany meats.
